# MEANING AND EXAMPLES OF SQUARE MATRIX

A square matrix is a matrix which has the same number of rows and columns.

That is, if the numbers of rows is 5, the column will be 5 as well.

A square matrix is usually represented as n x n matrix.

## Examples of square matrix

1. A 1 x 1 matrix is an example of square matrix.

$$A=\begin{bmatrix} 5 \end{bmatrix}$$

2. Another example of a square matrix is a 2 x 2 matrix

$$A = \begin{bmatrix} 1 & 2 \\ 3 & 4 \end{bmatrix}$$

3. A 3 x 3 matrix is also a square matrix

$$A = \begin{bmatrix} 1 & 2 & 5 \\\ 3 & 4 & 6 \\\ 7 & 8 & 9 \\\end{bmatrix}$$

4. A 4 x 4 matrix is also a square matrix

$$A = \begin{bmatrix} 1 & 2 & 5 & 10 \\\ 3 & 4 & 6 & 11 \\\ 7 & 8 & 9 & 12 \\\ 13 & 14 & 15 & 16 \\\end{bmatrix}$$

5. A 5 x 5 matrix is also a square matrix

$$A = \begin{bmatrix} 1 & 2 & 5 & 10 & 17 \\\ 3 & 4 & 6 & 11 & 18 \\\ 7 & 8 & 9 & 12 & 19 \\\ 13 & 14 & 15 & 16 & 20 \\\ 21 & 22 & 23 & 24 & 25 \\\end{bmatrix}$$
