WHO ARE THE FIRST EXECUTIVE AND CEREMONIAL PRESIDENT OF NIGERIA RESPECTIVELY?

The first ceremonial president of Nigeria is Chief Benjamin Nnamdi Azikiwe who was the president of Nigeria from 1st October 1963 to 16th January 1966.

By the way, a ceremonial president is a president who is only the head of state but lacks real executive powers to govern the state.

During Nnamdi Azikiwe tenure, Tafawa Balewa held the executive power while Nnamdi Azikiwe held ceremonial powers as president.

The first executive president of Nigeria is Shehu Usman Aliyu Shagari who was the president of Nigeria from 1st October 1979 to 31st December 1983.

By the way, an executive president is a president who possesses ceremonial and executive powers.

In other words, executive power is a president who is both the head of state and head of government.
